Here’s how to grow them successfully within your Plantaform Indoor Garden and enjoy their vibrant aromas and taste.
🌿 Mint
Flavour & Use
Refreshing and cool with a subtly sweet aroma. Ideal for cocktails or mocktails like mojitos, teas, or as a garnish for salads and fresh dishes.
Care Tips
- Maintenance: Thin to 3 strong seedlings once sprouted.
- Pruning & Harvesting: Begin harvesting and pruning leaves once the plant reaches 3–4 inches in length. Regular pruning encourages growth and prevents overextension.
Extra Tips
- Avoid letting Mint flower to maintain flavour intensity.
- Prune often for continuous growth and fresher taste.
🌿 Thyme
Flavour & Use
Earthy and aromatic. Perfect for seasoning meats, roasted vegetables, soups, and sauces.
Care Tips
- Maintenance: Thin to 3 strong seedlings once sprouted.
- Pruning & Harvesting: Harvest individual shoots once the plant is about 4-5 inches tall. Snip from the top to encourage new growth and avoid cutting into the stems. Do not cut the main stem. Only harvest 1/3 of the plant at a time to leave the rest to encourage further growth.
Extra Tips
- Prune frequently to allow the thyme to bush out and encourage further growth.
🌿 Dill
Flavour & Use
Light, tangy, and slightly sweet with a hint of anise. Excellent for pickling, seafood, yogurt dips, and salads.
Care Tips
- Maintenance: Thin to 1 to 2 strong seedlings once sprouted.
- Pruning & Harvesting: Start harvesting dill fronds once plants reach 6 inches tall. Snip outer leaves while leaving the inner leaves to continue growing regularly to promote new growth.
Extra Tips
- Pinch off flower heads to extend the overall harvesting period.
- Use fresh dill leaves immediately after harvesting for best flavour.
🌿 Lemon Basil
Flavour & Use
Citrusy and bright with a subtle peppery undertone. Great in teas, salads, seafood, and light pasta dishes.
Care Tips
- Maintenance: Thin to 1 to 2 strong seedlings once sprouted.
- Pruning & Harvesting: Once the plant has 6–8 pairs of leaves or is about 6 inches (15 cm) tall (roughly 4–6 weeks into the cycle), begin trimming. Cut just above a set of leaves, leaving two or more leaf sets below. This encourages branching and maximizes your harvest potential. The more frequently you prune, the more abundant and bushy your basil will grow.
Extra Tips
- Prune/Harvest larger individual leaves as the plant starts to grow to allow the smaller leaves to continue to grow.
- Monitor for leaf colour loss and remove leaves that are getting close to the LED's.
