🥬 Outredgeous Romaine
Flavour & Use
Mildly sweet with a crisp, juicy bite. Great for Caesar salads, sandwiches, and as a vibrant red-tinted base for mixed greens.
Care Tips
- Maintenance: Thin to 1 to 2 strong seedlings once sprouted.
- Pruning & Harvesting: Start harvesting the outer larger growing leaves at 25–30 days to allow smaller leaves to continue to grow. Final harvest by day 40–50.
Extra Tips
- Prune/Harvest larger individual leaves as the plant starts to grow to allow the smaller leaves to continue to grow.
- Monitor for leaf colour loss and remove leaves that are getting close to the LED's.
🍅 Orange Cherry Tomatoes
Flavour & Use
Sweet, juicy, and slightly tangy with a vibrant orange hue. Perfect for fresh salads, pasta dishes, or snacking right off the vine.
Care Tips
- Maintenance: Thin to 1 strong seedling once sprouted.
- Pruning & Harvesting: Around days 40–50, you’ll start to notice small yellow flowers forming. By days 65-75, early clusters of cherry tomatoes should begin to appear. Prune lower leaves to promote airflow and maximize tomato production.
Extra Tips
- Harvest tomatoes as they ripen to encourage continuous fruit production.
- Continue pruning regularly, especially removing excess leaves and side shoots which promotes airflow, extends the plant’s growth period, and maximizes tomato production.
🌿 Sweet Basil
Flavour & Use
Great in pasta, salads, pesto, smoothies, and tomato dishes.
Care Tips
- Maintenance: Thin the seedlings down to just the single healthiest one. Sweet basil requires consistent pruning every 2–3 weeks to avoid becoming tall and leggy. Regularly check for and remove any flower buds, as flowering signals the plant to stop leaf production and can result in a bitter flavour.
- Pruning & Harvesting: Once the plant has 6–8 pairs of leaves or is about 6 inches (15 cm) tall (roughly 4–6 weeks into the cycle), begin trimming. Cut just above a set of leaves, leaving two or more leaf sets below. This encourages branching and maximizes your harvest potential. The more frequently you prune, the more abundant and bushy your basil will grow.
Extra Tips
- Prune/Harvest larger individual leaves as the plant starts to grow to allow the smaller leaves to continue to grow.
- Monitor for leaf colour loss and remove leaves that are getting close to the LED's.
